City of Madison
Very extensive city-sponsored site covering many public resources such as Monona Terrace. Access sites for public schools as well as higher education institutions. It also gives info on transportation / parking and access to administrative offices and elected officials.

Good background on county government issues, e.g. land use, commuter rail service, and budget. See commission reports and press releases; also, the Clerk's home page for all basic election info.

Locally focused volunteer site that offers resources on general interest topics ranging from health to youth & domestic abuse. Connect with community and neighborhood organizations. Some are quite complete, e.g. the City of Stoughton.

A Wisconsin-focused alternative to the United Way. It tends to support smaller, innovative, and some might say more progressive organizations. The site offers agency links, a calandar of upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and information about activities that you might want to support.
